Northcote gained vital points in their division B relegation battle as they came from behind to defeat Clarence Gardens 5-4.

Clarence took a 3-0 lead through Billy Thompson, P Drinkwater and Dave Stewart.

But the match was far from over.

Noddy Johnson and Barry Kewell won legs to reduce Northcote’s deficit to just one.

Sam Palmer moved Clarence within a leg of victory but bottom-placed Northcote fought back admirably.

Brian Cosgrave, Lee Kewell and Graham Davis took the remaining ties to secure a win which moves them within two points of their nearest rivals.

Pelham Arms A moved within two points of the division C promotion places as they whitewashed Rose in June A 9-0.

Rob Louth, Wayne Martin, Oliver McDonald, James Jordan and Paul Slingsby took the first five legs to guarantee Pelham the points, with McDonald hitting a 149 finish.

And they didn’t stop there as team-mates Ricky Udy, M Sheppard and Graham Kemp were also on the mark before the last leg was awarded to Pelham’s Alan Poulton as a walkover.

Newcome Arms B sit just two points behind second place in division D after their 6-3 triumph over Barley Mow.

Newcome immediately put themselves in the driving seat with Ron Neale, Dave West, Shaun Willett – 124 game-shot – and Tony Small putting them 4-0 up.

However, Mow refused to roll over as Fred Stevens, Derek Lendrum and Rae Lawson notched up wins to put them back in the match at 4-3.

Newcome then returned to form with Tony Price and Steve Wilkinson claiming the remaining games to win the match.

Brewers Arms pulled themselves out of division A’s relegation zone after they went first 3-0 and then 4-2 down against Graham Arms, only to emerge 5-4 victors.

Martyn Simmons, Mark Mihell and Paul Skeates gave Graham the perfect start before M Ogden got Brewers off the mark.

A Hopkins added a second for Brewers to make it 3-2 but Graham’s Jim Snook was on hand to double his side’s advantage.

Allen Lloyd and Dean Kattenhorn restored parity for Brewers to take the match to a decider which their team-mate Neil Hewson won.

Graeme Cooper (Harvest Home) checked out on 127 and Terry Griffiths (Graham Arms B) hit a 111 game-shot.

Dean Jones (Newcome Arms A) recorded a 20-dart leg of 701, while Gary Stafford (Admiral Drake B) and Ian Critchett (Phoenix Lounge A) both finished their games in 24 darts.

Duncan Cope (The Stag A) threw an 18-dart leg of 501 and Ricky Williams, Bob Crawley (both Phoenix Lounge A) and Liam Jinman (Derby Tavern) all fired in maximums.
