Oyster House B secured vital points in the Portsmouth Men’s Winter League division C relegation battle as they beat basement side Admiral Drake A 6-3 to move four points clear.
David Hatherley snr, Malvin Waters and Malcolm Smith put Oyster ahead but after each win Drake hit back with Brian Attfield, Mark Pearce and Ian Attfield respectively putting them back on level terms.
However, that was all Drake could muster as Graham Keen, Andy James and Darren Trace sealed the win.
George & Dragon claimed their first victory of the season as they came from behind to dispatch Druids Arms B 5-4.
Druids stormed into a 3-0 lead courtesy of Tony Rees, Tony Smith and J Smailet before Philip North got George off the mark.
Neil Deluchi restored Druids’ three-leg advantage but momentum then swung to George with Shane Plummer, Tony Plummer, Frank Woodward and Liam Buchan taking the remaining ties to complete their comeback.
Rose in June A led throughout their division E match with Thatchers, eventually beating them 6-3.
Ian McClaren, Dave Lennox and James Dugan put Rose in control with the first three legs.
Raymond Holihan and Simon Edgar took legs for Thatchers either side of Rose’s Mark Ford to pull them back to 4-2 but it was to no avail with Paul Saynor and Rob Ford sealing victory for Rose.
Gary Ramshead took the last tie as a consolation for Thatchers.
Lord Chichester A stay rooted to the foot of division A after going down 6-3 to Phoenix North End B. Keith Sault started Chichester on a winning run but Steve Todd immediately restored parity for Phoenix.
Chichester again moved ahead as Pete Curtis was on the mark before Phoenix took the lead thanks to Dan Eade, Lee Smith and Vince Aston who notched a 180 and 18-dart leg.
Paul Stanley kept Chichester in the match but Lee Cook and Lee Todd took the last two sets to round things off for Phoenix. Electric Arms leapt off the bottom of division B with a 5-4 triumph over Duke of Devonshire.
Steve Cole, Mark Hymers and Peter Pitt put Electric in the driving seat before Les Shipp and Trevor Clements reduced Duke’s deficit to one leg.
John Elverson put Electric on the brink of victory but Allen Unwin and Len Eastland – with an 18-dart leg – forced a decider only for Rob Andrews to triumph and seal the win.
James Brooker and Adam Lipscombe (both Admiral Drake B) threw 17-dart legs.
Meanwhile, Gary Hornby (Mermaid), Danny Smith (Admiral Drake B), Stephen Wain (Stag A) and Lee O’Donovan (Mr Pickwick B) all recorded 18-darters.
Paul Scutt (Mr Pickwick B) checked out on 114 and Neil Sheppard (Rose in June B) and Joe Bridle (Stag A) both fired in maximums.
