Phoenix North End B jumped up to third in Portsmouth Men’s Summer League division A thanks to a 7-2 triumph over Shearer Arms.

Bruce Baker started Shearer off in winning ways as he scored 180 in taking the first set.

But Phoenix then took command with Vince Aston, Lee Smith, Jason Crawley, Bob Hey, Les Rance, Dan Eade and Lee Todd all on the mark. Crawley registered an 18-dart leg.

Shearer’s Steve Marsh took the last set as a consolation.

Rose in June B did not let being a player short hold them back as they dispatched Jolly Taxpayer A 5-4.

Taxpayer’s Steve Houghton was awarded the first leg as a walkover but Rose were soon in front as Shane Williams and Michael Neat won their games.

Robert Houghton restored parity for Taxpayer but Neil Sheppard then moved Rose 3-2 up.

Taxpayer pulled level once more only for Rose’s Ian Pearce to put his side on the brink of victory.

Eamonn Leightley took the penultimate clash for Taxpayer to force a decider which Rose won thanks to Dave Whyte.

Phoenix North End C moved out of division C’s bottom three with a 6-3 victory over Graham Arms B.

Graham took the opener through Bill Thompson but Phoenix then built an insurmountable lead as Dean Messenbird, Michael Winkley, Damon Jenkins, Trevor Cawte and Arthur Hawkins all notched wins.

Mark Evans and Del Corney took the remaining legs to make the scoreline more respectable for Graham.

Division D champions Star & Garter suffered their second defeat of the season as they went down 5-4 to relegated Admiral Drake A.

A walkover for Richard Linford got the ball rolling for Drake before Carl Spratt and Marty Pearce put them 3-0 up.

Star battled back with Phil King, Paul Miller and Dave Gisby putting them back on level terms before Dave West and Ian Attfield bagged the points for Drake.

Steve Bern added a fourth for Drake with the last leg.

Portland Arms are second in division E after beating George & Dragon 6-3.

George took a 2-1 lead as Malcolm Tilley and Les Browne struck after Robert Griffin had taken the opener for Portland.

Portland’s Liam O’Driscoll made it 2-2 before Phillip Browne put George back in front.

However, that was all George could muster as Portland took each of the four remaining clashes through Jack Hicks, Joe Sweetman, Ben Watson and Keith Mayne.

Thatchers emerged as 7-2 victors over Painters Arms when the two sides met in division F.

Thatchers immediately put themselves in the driving seat with Daniel Paddon, Simon Edgar and Chris Lawrence scoring.

Connor Gardiner and Stephen Perry reduced Painters deficit to just one but momentum then swung back to Thatchers as they took the remaining legs with wins from Dave Edwards, Paul Macalonan, Harry Pagnell and Mark Hill.

Dean Jones (Newcome Arms A) James Brooker and Danny Smith (both Admiral Drake B) all threw 18-dart legs.

Dave Stewart (Clarence Gardens) hit a 129 game-shot and Chris Jafkins (Mr Pickwick B) finished on 128 and scored a 180.

Ted Andrews (Jolly Taxpayer B), Lee O’Donovan (Mr Pickwick B) and Allen Gaymer (Raven) all fired in maximums.
