Mr Pickwick A clinched a 5-4 triumph over Jolly Taxpayer C in Portsmouth Men’s Summer League division one by winning a deciding leg.

Taxpayer took a 2-1 lead as Rob White and Steve Humby took sets either side of a win from Vic Smith, who scored 180.

Neil Hewson and Charlie Linkhorn put Pickwick ahead for the first time – with Linkhorn notching an 18-darter and 180.

Steve Ockendon restored parity only for Malcolm Ogden to put Pickwick within a leg of victory.

Taxpayer’s Andy Newcombe threw an 18-dart leg and 120 finish to make it 4-4 but an 18-darter and 113 game-shot from Dan Eade bagged the points for Pickwick.

Froddington Arms cemented their spot in the top half of division B with a 5-4 victory against Duke of Devonshire.

Pete Ayling and Paul Simmonds gave Duke the lead but Daniel Browne and Liam Emery soon hit back.

John Elverson had them in front again, only for Alan Graf Snr and Luke Graf to turn the tables for Arms.

Norman Hollis kept Duke in the match but it was Froddington’s Louis Arnell who bagged the points.

Rose in June A gained vital points in division C’s relegation battle as they defeated Tap 5-4 to move level on points.

Rose led throughout after wins by Brad Lennox and Ian McClaren.

Mark Wilson got Tap off the mark before Chris Pratt made it 3-1.

Tap pulled another leg back through Harry Robins but it was to no avail as Robert Ford and Dave Lennox bagged the points for Rose.

Harvest Home kept in touch with division D’s promotion places with a 7-2 victory over Clarence Gardens.

Wins from Joel Luke, Phil Mercer, David Place Jnr, David Place Snr, Robert Tomkins and Andy Healey and a walkover for John Major decided it.

Neil Hallett (Druids Arms A), Frankie Howard (Newcome Arms A) and Trevor Cawte (Phoenix North End C) all recorded 16-dart legs – with Hallett and Cawte scoring 180.

Steve Filby (Newcome Arms A) registered 17 and 18-dart efforts and a 108 finish, while team-mate Shane Filleul threw a 17-darter and a 180.

Sam Head (Admiral Drake B), Steve Marsh (Shearer Arms), Liam Jafkins (Mr Pickwick B) and Jamie Stewart (Phoenix North End B) all threw 18-darters with Jafkins finishing on 102.

Shaun Brooker (Admiral Drake B) hit a 126 finish, Carl Williams (Rose in June B) had a 118 check-out and Matt Jeffery and Mark Barnes (both Stag B) hit 117 and 111 game-shots respectively.

Bruce Baker (Shearer Arms) finished on 108 and Lee Smith (Phoenix North End B) checked out on 104.

Pete Curtis (Lord Chichester A), Dean Barlow (Graham Arms B), Paul Miller (Star & Garter), Joe Bridle (Stag A) and Paul Richmond (Newcome Arms A) all hit 180s. Phoenix North End C’s Ian Vincent and Arthur Hawkins hit 171 and 165 respectively.
