Tap B hauled themselves out of the bottom two in Portsmouth Men’s Summer League division D with a 7-1 triumph over Artillery Arms B.

Steve Udy, Paul Grant and Mick McKnight put them 3-1 up with only Malvin Waters able to provide any early resistance.

Malcolm Smith reduced Artillery’s deficit to just a single leg but that was all they could muster as Les Phipps, Andrew Phipps, Mark Wilson and Spencer King swept Tap to victory.

Druids Arms A maintained their two-point lead at the top of division E with a 6-3 victory over George & Dragon.

Druids wasted no time in bagging the points with Darren Maplesden, Brian Dickson, Brett Smith, Neil Hallett and Reg Shaw putting them 5-0 up.

George restored pride through Malcolm Tilley, Shane Plummer and Les Browne before Druids’ sixth came from an Alan Smith walkover.

Fawcett Inn cemented third spot in division F by beating Tap A 6-3.

Tom Morley, John Dungworth and Josh Olden gave them a 3-0 lead before Chris Hilton got Tap off the mark.

Michael Crabbe restored Fawcett’s three-leg cushion but that was immediately wiped out by Tap’s Mark North.

Fawcett sealed the match with the next two legs from Mark Standen and Jon Morley before Gary Ramshead hit a late consolation for Tap.

Top-flight basement side Artillery Arms pulled level on points with the two teams above them after they overcame Old House at Home B 5-4.

Brian Croucher and Laurie Clark put Old House 2-1 up with sets either side of a Roy Morran win.

Darrell Manchip restored parity for Artillery but they were behind again when Colin McKean struck.

Artillery edged ahead for the first time through Derek Manchip and Steve Woodage before Dan Rickards forced a decider won by Jim Adams.

Division B leaders Mr Pickwick A suffered their first defeat of the season as Lord Chichester A won 6-3.

Second-placed Stag A took advantage and moved within four points as they dispatched Jolly Taxpayer A 6-3.

Brian Hammond, Stephen Wain and Roy Sands propelled Stag into a 3-0 lead but Kevin Houghton took the next tie to stop the rot for Taxpayer. Stag won the next two legs thanks to Andrew Smith and Mick Neilson.

Ben Stone took a consolation for Taxpayer before Duncan Cope added Stag’s sixth. The last leg was a walkover for Taxpayer’s John Jenkinson.

Battle of Minden B are still searching for their first win after a 6-3 defeat to Mermaid.

Mermaid went 3-1 up through John Holt, Jay Gills and Ray Passfield as only Barry Porter offered any resistance.

Arthur Morey secured a second leg for Minden.

But a walkover for Matthew Bolton and wins for Kelvin Fletcher and Arnie Le Rouge gave Mermaid the points. Ron Byng won the last leg as a consolation for Minden.

Adam Lipscombe (Admiral Drake B) threw a 15-dart leg, while Vince Aston (Phoenix NE B) and Liam Jafkins (Mr Pickwick B) both had 16-darters with Aston also scoring 180.

Danny Smith (Admiral Drake B) had a 17-dart effort and Andy Newcombe (Jolly Taxpayer C), Ian Pearce (Rose in June B), Lee Todd (Phoenix NE B), Frankie Howard and Darren Barnes (Newcome Arms A) all finished in 18 darts.

Harry Rogers (Duke of Devonshire) hit a 124 check-out and Bruce Baker, Ricky Udy, Barry Stevens, Lee Cook, Lee Smith and Neil Banks hit 180s.
