Michael van Gerwen is ready to bring his A game back to Portsmouth.
The Dutchman has landed two major titles in the past three weeks.
And now the world number one has revealed his excitement ahead of a south coast return for the annual Untouchables event at the Guildhall in December.
Having already won the World Championship in 2014, van Gerwen picked up the World Grand Prix trophy before becoming European champion on Sunday.
In his latest triumph, ‘Mighty Mike’ also produced a moment of magic – a nine-dart finish in his semi-final win over Raymond van Barneveld, who is also set to return to Portsmouth.
The Dutch pair are part of a star-studded line-up for the U Moove Untouchables, which takes place on Saturday, December 6.
And van Gerwen believes he will be able to reproduce the same kind of stunning performances that have seen him become the best player on the planet.
He said: ‘My form is fantastic at the moment and I am sure I will bring it to this event.
‘I have played in Portsmouth a couple of times before and the fans have been fantastic to me and I want to repay them by playing my top game.
‘I hope I can win the event and maybe even treat the crowd to a nine-darter as I believe it has never happened before in the five years of this tournament.’
The event also features double world champion Adrian Lewis, seven-time major winner James Wade and Waterlooville-based Aussie Simon Whitlock.
Former world champion Mark Webster, darts legend Bobby George and Holland’s Vincent van der Voort are also lined up for what promises to be an exciting evening.
