Familiar opposition for Avram Grant's Pompey start
Avram Grant will tomorrow make his bow as Pompey boss - and the identity of the opposition is strikingly familiar.
Manchester United will line up against the Blues bidding to prevent a winning start for the Israeli.
They were also the opponents for his first match in charge of Chelsea on September 23, 2007.
On that occasion, he suffered a 2-0 loss at Old Trafford after goals from Carlos Tevez and a last-minute Louis Saha penalty.
The Red Devils would also prove to be his final match in charge of Chelsea - the Champions League final defeat.
The May 21, 2008, showpiece saw Frank Lampard level for Chelsea to cancel out Cristiano Ronaldo's opener.
Then came the dreaded penalty shoot-out which saw John Terry miss the spot-kick which would have handed Grant's men the crown, before Nicolas Anelka's failure to convert handed United glory.
Three days later Grant was sacked. Now he's back - and Manchester United are once again the opposition.
