Despite their off-field problems, Gosport Borough produced a performance full of character and spirit as they held Oxford City to a goalless draw.

Unpaid tax bills, players not getting paid and a transfer embargo meant preparations for Oxford’s trip to Privett Park were far from ideal.

However, the Borough players rose to the occasion to earn a point and remain in the National League South play-off places.

Also in the division, the Hawks climbed out of the bottom three thanks to stoppage-time goals from Josh Hill and Shamir Mullings against Maidstone United.

Lee Bradbury’s side, boosted by the loan signings of Aaron Mitchell and James Haran from QPR under-21s, looked on the verge of another defeat, before the visitors had a man sent off and the double act struck late on.

In the FA Trophy, Bognor progressed to the semi-finals thanks to a 1-0 win over Torquay United at Nyewood Lane.

On-loan Pompey player Snorre Nilsen scored the winner for the Hawks.

In the Southern League central division one, Petersfield suffered a 3-0 defeat at St Ives.

Meanwhile, in the Wessex League premier division, AFC Portchester were held to a 1-1 draw by Andover Town.
