BOGNOR can hold their heads high tonight after making National League premier high-fliers Grimsby battle all the way to win their two-legged FA Trophy semi-final.

The Nyewood Lane side lost the first leg at home 1-0 last Saturday.

However, they made The Mariners work hard for their dream date at Wembley after losing today’s clash 2-1.

Dan Beck’s equaliser gave the 183 Rocks fans who made the trip to Blundell Park hope of a shock.

But two-goal Padraig Amond killed the dream as the hosts progressed to the final 3-1 on aggregate.

In National League South, the Hawks paraded new boys Andy Robinson and George Barker in their line-up to face Dartford.

And the former Gosport Borough duo did their bit in the 2-0 victory over the visitors.

After a goalless first half, James Hayter scored with two headers to secure a well-deserved three points for the hosts.

Also in National League South, Gosport slipped to a third straight defeat following a 2-0 loss at the hands of Sutton.

Justin Bennett missed a penalty for Alex Pike’s side in the first minute of the game.

In Southern League central division one, Petersfield Town held out in the second half to ensure they secured all three points against struggling North Greenford.

A Howard Neighbour goal on 14 minutes won the game.
