Rutherford hat-trick inspires Hawks to victory as Moneys remain top with emphatic win

ALFIE Rutherford grabbed a hat-trick as the Hawks secured a 5-0 Ryman premier win against Grays Athletic at Westleigh Park.

Rutherford struck twice in the opening 25 minutes, with Rory Williams adding a third before half-time.

With the hosts in complete command, Rutherford completed his hat-trick in the 65th minute.

Wessex leaders Moneyfields remain top of the table after an emphatic win against Bournemouth.

A double from James Guthrie saw them romp to a 6-0 victory.

Nathan Paxton, Steve Hutchings and Lewis Fennemore also found the goal.

Two goals by Robbie Tambling saw Horndean come from behind to win away from home against Hamworthy. The Deans were 2-0 down but managed to finish the game 4-2 ahead.

Elsewhere in the Wessex League premier, AFC Portchester – who sat third in the table before the game – won 2-0 at home to Cowes Sports in a comfortable victory.

The hosts scored a consolation, with Baffins making it 5-1 in the final minutes.

In the Ryman League premier division, Bognor triumphed over Folkestone Invicta.

Goals from Ollie Pearce and James Fraser earned Jamie Howells’ side a precious 2-1 win.
