Gosport Borough grabbed an unlikely 2-2 draw at Taunton Town with a stunning late show.

Borough trailed the Southern League division one south & west clash by two goals as the game entered the final minute.

But last-gasp efforts from Ross Langworthy and Justin Bennett salvaged a point.

‘It was an amazing comeback after we thought we were dead in the water,’ said assistant-manager Mick Catlin.

‘We had plenty of possession throughout the game but couldn’t create anything worthwhile.

‘Taunton played with five across the middle and just one up front, looking to hit us on the break.

‘We felt it wasn’t going to be our day when we hit the woodwork twice in a minute, before they grabbed a second goal.

‘We weren’t great and have played a lot better this season.

‘But give the lads credit, they refused to give up.

‘Under the circumstances we have to be pleased to come away with a point.’

Rodney Marsh managed to turn Gav Jones and beat Nathan Ashmore to give the home side a 26th-minute lead.

Borough’s response was almost clinical.

Bennett struck the right-hand post with a diving header and, when the ball was returned into the area, Liam Sewell struck the opposite post.

James Blake’s goal three minutes from time looked to have sealed a home win.

But substitute Langworthy bundled home and, four minutes into stoppage-time, Bennett poked in a sensational second.

Catlin added: ‘We will have to be better at Abingdon tomorrow night but it is a game we should be getting points from.’
