Locks Heath and the University of Portsmouth hit nine

LOCKS HEATH were in hot form despite the big freeze as they thrashed Otterbourne 9-1 at home in the Puma Engineering Hampshire Premier League.

Eight goals in a 28-minute spell, either side of half-time did the damage for the rampant hosts.

The goal spree came after Otterbourne took a shock lead on 13 minutes.

Matt Northcott led the way with four goals for Locks Heath.

Mark Smith grabbed a double and Jordan Neal and Ali Badcock were also on the mark during the 28-minute barrage.

The final goal arrived seven minutes from time when Aaron Smith made it nine.

The University of Portsmouth also demonstrated their prowess in front of goal with a 9-1 thrashing of Overton United.

The students led 6-0 at the break, with two goals from Lee Moyce and strikes from Michael Hayes, Simon McManus, James Tasker and Kiri Portou.

The impressive Portou added two more after the break for a hat-trick and Ed Lee got the ninth goal on the hour.

All matches in the Magnata Care Hampshire League and Wyvern Combination League were called off because of frozen pitches.
