Baffins Milton Rovers added the Portsmouth Senior Cup to their growing trophy cabinet after twice coming from behind to beat Moneyfields 4-2 at Fratton Park tonight.
Victory, which avenged the Hampshire Premier League winners’ 2-0 defeat in last year’s final – also against Moneys – was a hard-fought one as they battled back from Jake Raine’s first-minute goal through Jason Parish’s strike, only to trail at the break thanks to Warren Hunt’s close-range effort.
But Baffins, who went into the final as underdogs, soon turned the final on its head as Sam Willett fired home a sensational equaliser 10 minutes after the break, before Blue Boan pounced late on to give Fred Cornish’ side the advantage.
Moneyfields’ frustrations boiled over in the final moments when captain Russell Rackley received a second yellow card.
That left substitute Chaz Gardener to put the gloss on a deserved victory for Baffins when he scored his side’s fourth in injury time.
Baffins will now look to make their double into a treble in the Hampshire League Cup final this Saturday against Colden Common.
