Gosport Borough draft new signing Steffan Gaisie straight into their squad for the visit to Arlesey Town in the Evostik Southern League premier division (3pm).
The 24-year-old striker started the season at Winchester City but has been snapped up by Borough boss Alex Pike in a bid to boost his side’s firepower.
‘The lad has been at Bognor and Dorchester and scored goals wherever he’s been,’ said Pike.
‘Mick Jenkins, who was at Winchester, recommended him to us and helped broker the deal. We have created a lot of chances but failed to convert them so hopefully Steffan will help remedy the problem.’
Borough have found life tough making the step up to the premier division, winning just one of their opening four matches.
That hasn’t come as a shock to Pike, where two successive home defeats at the hands of Barwell and Redditch respectively have shown just how competitive the league is.
But he was pleased to see his side pick up their first home point in a 0-0 draw against Bashley on Monday.
Pike added: ‘We were not mentally tough enough against Redditch and we were punished for our mistakes.
‘It was much better against Bashley when we concentrated for the whole 90 minutes.’
Borough have also added veteran goalkeeper Steve May to their team as a coach and cover for Ashmore.
Gosport Borough: Ashmore, May, G Jones, Woodward, Cook, Molyneux, Holland, Poate, Martin, King, Ford, Wooden, Igoe, Bennett, Gaisie, Cox.
n Bognor are in Ryman premier action tomorrow at home to Margate (3pm).
