Gosport Borough are looking to improve on their ‘awful’ away record as they make the trip to Paulton Rovers in Southern League division one south & west.

Borough have lost only once at home all season but their disappointing results on the road have cost them a place in the play-offs.

‘It is frustrating because a couple more away wins would have seen us firmly in the play-offs,’ said assistant manager Mick Catlin.

‘We need to analyse why there has been such a difference between our home and away form because it is bizarre. Possibly, it is a lack of mental strength because at times we have got ourselves into good positions and let things slip.

‘Next season we are re-introducing our reserve team which should help because sometimes this season we have not had the players on the bench to change things.

‘We are hopeful going to Paulton because we’ve been a bit of a bogey side for them.’

Borough are still without suspended pair Dave Birmingham and James Taylor for tomorrow’s game but have Alex Ward back from his work commitments.

With teams above them slipping up in the past couple of weeks, Borough can still harbour an outside chance of sneaking into the play-offs.

‘If we did it would be by default and not really deserved,’ said Catlin.
