Substitute Justin Bennett pounced on a mistake to help Gosport Borough to a 2-0 Hampshire Senior Cup win over the Hawks at Privett Park.

With the tie heading towards a penalty shoot out, Bennett finished superbly after an error from Pedro Monteiro let him in 11 minutes from time.

Lee Wort added a second Borough goal with virtually the last kick of the game.

As expected it proved a close- fought affair between the two local rivals but it was Borough who drew first blood ahead of the two league meetings between the two sides.

Also tonight, Conference South Farnborough proved too strong for Wessex League premier division side Petersfield as they recorded a 7-1 win at Love Lane - also in the Hampshire Senior Cup.

And Moneyfields were unfortunate against Lymington as they crashed out of the county competition 5-4 on penalties, after the game ended 2-2 after 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, Ashley Harris scored a hat-trick as Horndean progressed in the Wessex League Cup thanks to a 5-2 win at home to Fareham.
