Mick Catlin insists Gosport Borough’s Russell-Cotes Cup semi-final against Christchurch at Privett Park tonight is not a distraction (7.45pm).

Borough are gunning for a Southern League premier division play-off place.

But Catlin believes the cup is also important, with players such as Justin Bennett looking for time on the pitch.

The assistant manager said: ‘We want to win. Having disbanded our reserve team and losing a game to the weather at the weekend, its important.

‘It enables us to give our fringe players and those coming back from injury a game.’

Meanwhile, the Southern League have extended the season to May 4 to cope with all the postponements.
