Gosport Borough have been handed a tough start to their National League South campaign, which opens on Saturday, August 6.

Borough open up with a visit to highly-fancied Maidenhead United, who are now managed by ex-West Ham United legend Alan Devonshire.

Alex Pike’s team host last season’s play-off contenders Truro City in their first home game on the following Tuesday.

Eastbourne Borough, who have signed former Hawks central defender Brian Dutton, are the next visitors on the second weekend of the season.

Newcomers Poole Town are the opponents in the Christmas holiday fixtures.

On Boxing Day, the Dorset team visit Privett Park with Borough travelling away on New Year’s Day.

‘It is a tough start but one we are looking forward to already,’ said Pike.

‘Maidenhead are one of the favourites now they are being managed by Alan Devonshire.

‘It will be interesting occasion for our new striker Ben Wright, who we signed from them in the summer.

‘We also signed a couple of Truro players, so that will give our second game an added bit of spice.’
