Gosport Borough are seeking to tempt Steve Claridge out of retirement.

The 45-year-old has carved out a name for himself as a football pundit since hanging up his boots two years ago.

But Borough boss Alex Pike is eager to recruit him for his side.

He said: ‘Steve is a good friend of Gosport Borough Football Club and I would love to try to persuade Steve to sign and bring something to Gosport because I believe he can help my forwards.

‘If I can use my persuasive powers and get him away from that lucrative BBC contract then yes I’d like him.’
