Justin Bennett etched his name in the Gosport Borough history books as he fired them to a 2-1 victory over Boreham Wood at Privett Park.

The striker hit both goals in the Skrill South success – making him the club’s highest-ever scorer and further boosting their hopes of avoiding relegation.

Junior Morias hit a late consolation for the visitors.

Meanwhile, the Hawks’ hopes of breaking into the play-off picture were dealt a blow in a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Staines Town.

In the Ryman League premier division, promotion-hopefuls Bognor were held to a goalless draw by Leiston at Nyewood Lane.

Moneyfields claimed derby honours for the second weekend running as they beat Fareham Town again – this time 3-0 – in the Wessex League premier division.

Stuart Green scored twice, while Steve Hutchings got the other.
