Baffins Milton Rovers suffered their first-ever defeat the Kendall Stadium as they lost 4-2 against Romsey Town in Wessex League division one on Saturday.

Louis Bell blamed the loss on careless defending.

‘To be fair, Romsey came and did a job on us,’ said the Baffins boss.

‘They only had four shots on goal and scored with all of them.

‘We had all the possession and should have done better with some early chances.

‘In the end we couldn’t break down the solid Romsey defence.

‘The important thing now is how the players react to this result.’

After falling behind, Louie Castles – back from a broken arm – levelled the scores.

Two quick goals in the second half left Baffins chasing the game but all they could manage was a Danny Audin header from a good Castles cross.

Bob Brady felt United Services were unlucky to lose 3-2 at AFC Stoneham.

‘We didn’t play well in the first 15 minutes and conceded two goals,’ said the manager.

‘After we clawed our way back to 2-2 we were then undone when a clearance hit their attacker and looped back over our goalkeeper.

‘We dominated the last 15 minutes but couldn’t find the equaliser we deserved.’

Services’ goals were scored by Callum Glen – from the penalty spot – and Fuzz Kanjanda.

Rich Bessey celebrated his first game in charge at Paulsgrove with a resounding 7-1 win at lowly Stockbridge.

Jake Daniels grabbed a hat-trick and Bob White bagged a pair, while Josh Parry and Aidan Hatton also got on the scoresheet.

Connor Messenbird smashed four goals, including an eight-minute hat-trick, for Liss Athletic in their 7-6 Hampshire Intermediate Cup defeat at Bitterne.

An Elliot Sills hat-trick sealed Clanfield’s 4-2 cup win at Infinity – after Ollie Amos had set them on their way.

Two first-half goals from Jordan Whiteley and Jack Morby saw Fleetlands to a 2-0 home success over Michelmersh & Timsbury.

Danny Lane grabbed Hayling United’s consolation goal as they went out 2-1 at Team Solent.

Portsmouth League Wymering lost 2-0 at Overton United.

n Petersfield Town endured another dismal day on the road in Southern League division one central as they were beaten 4-1 at Bedford Town.

Jordan Geddes cancelled out the home side’s opener.

But a penalty on 68 minutes gave Bedford the impetus to ease clear.
