Horndean manager Dave Carter was unhappy with the officials after Horndean had three players dismissed in the 3-2 Wessex League premier division defeat by Brockenhurst at Five Heads Park.

Aaron Fennemore and goalkeeper Charlie Searle were both red carded during the contest.

Dan Ayres was then dismissed after the final whistle.

‘Even with nine players at the end we could still have got something out of the game,’ said Carter.

‘It was a nightmare.

‘I don’t like criticising officials but they were horrendous.’

The New Forest side led 1-0 at the interval and extended their lead after Fennemore was sent off in the 50th minute.

Alex Miroy replied for the hosts from the penalty spot but the visitors soon scored a penalty of their own.

The battling home side refused to give up and Liam Gilbert scored five minutes from time.

Fareham Town’s slump continued with a comprehensive 6-0 defeat at Winchester City.

After a good opening 20 minutes, the Reds conceded twice before half-time.

City took control in the second half to run out easy winners.

Fareham boss Matt Parr felt his players fought hard.

He said: ‘I couldn’t fault the effort and application of my players – and the final scoreline flattered them.

‘We were on top early on but failed to take a couple of chances.

‘They then exploited our lack of confidence and caught us on the break in the second half when we were chasing the game.’
