Horndean defeated hosts Verwood 2-1 last night, courtesy of strikes by Dan Hayes and Chamal Fenelon.
Fenelon was a thorn in the Verwood side right from the off with his pace and strength.
However, it was Rob De Sport and Gary Austin who came closest to scoring in the opening skirmishes.
Neither could hit the target, though, and in the end it was midfielder Hayes who stole the limelight on 25 minutes as he headed home a Tommy Woodward free-kick.
After another fruitless raid, Fenelon grabbed the second when he rifled home from the edge of the area.
Tom Chapman headed inches over as Horndean hunted for a third early in the second half.
But a moment of indecision then proved costly for the Deans, as Martin Edwards walked the ball into an empty net to make it 2-1.
Austin and Fenelon both went close to restoring the two-goal advantage, before the visitors spent the last 10 minutes clinging on to all three points.
