Gosport Borough played out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Weston-super-Mare at Privett Park, with a goal from Tom Dunford rescuing a point to keep them fifth in the Vanarama Conference South table.

Borough had trailed at the break following Weston defender Ollie Barnes’ strike but rallied to clinch a precious point in the chase for a play-off spot.

Two-goal Harry Cornick fired the Hawks to a valuable 2-1 Vanarama Conference South win over bottom club Staines Town.

Lee Bradbury’s side had to come from behind to secure the win, which keeps them firmly in the play-off picture.

The Swans took a 14th-minute lead against the run of play, before Cornick levelled from a corner before the break.

The striker then grabbed the winner midway through the second half with a superb breakaway goal.

Bognor fell to their first defeat in four games as their hopes of a Ryman League premier division play-off place were all-but dashed by an impressive Enfield side.

The visitors were no match for their opponents and lost 2-0 on their travels following Corey Whitely’s quick-fire second-half double.

Champions-elect Petersfield stretched their lead at the top of the Wessex premier division table to seven points following a 3-0 victory at Verwood this afternoon.

Alex Ward, Joe Briggs and Jamie Ford were all on target for Ian Saunders’ in-form side.

Fareham Town’s Wessex League premier division relegation problems worsened as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at Newport this afternoon.

Goals either side of half-time from Scott Sampson and Tom McInnes downed the Reds as their battle against the drop intensified.

Elsewhere, AFC Portchester claimed a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth Poppies thanks to Craig Hardy’s goal.
