Hayling United earned themselves a possible reprieve from relegation to Wessex League division one with a stirring final-day 4-2 home win over Lymington Town.

With the news filtering through that Brockenhurst had lost at home to Moneyfields, it meant the Humbugs had pulled themselves off the foot of the table.

Goals from Dan Martin (2), Lenny Burney and Nathan Kirby gave Lee Paul’s side an outside chance of beating the drop.

Also in the premier division, Fareham’s season ended with a whimper following a 2-0 defeat away to Bemerton Heath Harlequins.

There was also bad news for Bognor, who have been forced into the Ryman division one south play-offs after managing only a 1-1 draw at Chatham.

Despite going into the match knowing a win would guarantee them promotion and the title, their point – and the Met Police’s 1-0 win at home – means it’s the latter who take the honours.

Jason Prior’s second-half goal cancelled out Tshikaya’s opener for Chatham.

In the Blue Square South, the Hawks ended their 2010-11 campaign with a 1-1 draw at home to Staines.

Manny Williams was on the mark for Shaun Gale’s side.
