The Hawks’ disappointing Blue Square South campaign ended with a low key 1-1 draw against Staines Town at West Leigh Park on Saturday.

Manny Williams gave the hosts a 34th-minute lead, poaching a close-range goal after a Steve Ramsey shot was parried by the goalkeeper.

Staines hit back strongly in the second half and substitute Mario Quiassaca’s thunderous 25-yard drive left keeper Nathan Ashmore rooted to the spot as the ball hit the net.

‘It was frustrating and typical of our season as a whole,’ said manager Shaun Gale.

‘We controlled the game but our failure in the final third was us in a nutshell.

‘It is massively important now that we prepare ourselves to go again.

‘I have a fantastic group of players but unfortunately we have fallen short this year.

‘We have not achieved what we set out to achieve and I will need to freshen things up and make a few changes.’
