Gosport finished third in Southern League division one south & west despite a 2-1 win over Bishops Cleeve at Privett Park.

That means Alex Pike’s men will host Sholing in the play-offs on Monday night.

Borough were hoping to secure second spot and a home tie throughout the play-offs. But Poole’s 3-1 victory over Bideford put pay to that.

Gosport can still take plenty of confidence into Monday’s match, though, as goals from Justin Bennett and Adam Wilde handed them three points.

Meanwhile, Hayling pulled off last-day survival in the Wessex League premier division for the second season on the trot despite surrendering a three-goal lead in a 3-3 draw with New Milton.

The Humbugs went in 3-0 up at the break after two from Alex Easton and a Steve Black free-kick. But, needing a win to overtake Hayling for the final safety spot, New Milton turned the game around after the interval – although they could not find a winner to deny Hayling from staying up.

Moneyfields ended their campaign with a 5-2 home success over Fawley.

And Bognor will host Godalming in the Ryman division one play-offs after a sensational second-half comeback saw them win 4-2 away to Maidstone and finish second in the table behind Whitehawk.

Terry Dodd (2), Ben Johnson and Steve Harper got the Rocks’ goals.
