But it was a night to forget for the Hawks as they bowed out of the Hampshire Senior Cup after a 3-1 quarter-final defeat to Sholing.
Gosport made it 16 matches unbeaten as second-half goals from Dan Woodward and Danny Smith kept them moving up the table.
At the fourth time of asking after a string of postponements, the Hawks finally played their tie with Sholing.
And things looked rosy when Steve Ramsey put them into the lead.
But Lee Bradbury’s under-strength side found themselves 2-1 down at the break, before another goal in the second half put Sholing through.
In the Wessex League premier division, Moneyfields trounced Romsey 6-2 courtesy of goals from Warren Hunt (3), Dan Gauntlett, Steve Hutchings and Harry Page.
Horndean were also victors, beating Fawley 2-1 after second-half efforts by Dan Hayes and Matt Andrews.
