Two last-gasp goals from Sahr Kabba and substitute Dan Strugnell failed to prevent the Hawks going down to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Eastbourne Borough.

The goals came far too late for the home side, who had already conceded three goals following some sloppy defending.

The Blue Square Bet South defeat was hard to take for the Hawks, considering they won 1-0 at Borough on Boxing Day.

There was some New Year’s Day joy for Gosport Borough, though, who came from behind to draw 1-1 at Bashley in the Southern League premier division.

Justin Bennett headed home Sammy Igoe’s corner in the 85th minute to extend the Privett Park side’s unbeaten run to 10 matches.
