The Hawks remain in danger of the drop after failing to beat 10 men for the second time in just over 48 hours.

Steve Johnson’s side slipped to a 1-0 defeat at home to Basingstoke in Blue Square Bet South, despite the visitors having a man sent off before the break.

The result follows Saturday’s 1-0 loss at home to Dover, who also played part of the match with 10 men.

Basingstoke’s winner came on 21 minutes through Delano Sam-Yorke.

But despite having a host of chances, the Hawks could not find a reply.

The result leaves them two points off the drop zone, although Hampton & Richmond - who sit directly below the Hawks - have two games in hand.
