The Hawks found the going tough at bottom-of-the-table Thurrock as they were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw at Ship Lane.

Shaun Gale’s side welcomed back top-scorer Ollie Palmer for the clash.

But when he was presented with a golden opportunity to seal all three points in the dying minutes, he shot straight at the keeper to ensure Gale’s side had to be content with a scoreless draw.

Gosport Borough’s recent good form came unstuck at Tiverton Town as they went down to a 3-1 defeat in Devon in the Southern League division one south & west.

Liam Sewell gave Alex Pike’s side a half-time lead, but despite the the heroics of returning goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore, he could do little as the home team hit the back of the net three times in the second half to earn a convincing victory.

Bognor’s promotion hopes, however, remain very much intact after they secured a 2-1 win at home to Corinthian Casuals.

Sonny Cobbs and Dan Beck scored for the Nyewood Lane side, before the latter was sent off late in the second half.

In the Wessex League, the honours were shared at Cams Alders, with Fareham and Hayling United drawing 1-1.

Both teams had a player sent off in a feisty affair.

Rob Tambling scored for Fareham, before Daryl Carter equalised for the Humbugs with a late penalty.

Also in the Wessex League premier division, Alex Miroy scored in Horndean’s 1-1 draw with Laverstock & Ford.
