The Hawks stormed to a convincing 4-1 win to complete a league double over struggling Bishop’s Stortford at West Leigh Park.

First-half goals by Guiseppe Sole and Jake Newton put them in charge before Sammy Igoe increased their grip with a third goal two minutes into the second half.

Stortford managed to pull a goal back but the Hawks soon hit back with another from Wes Fogden.

The Southern League division one south & west play-offs may be beyond Gosport’s reach but that didn’t stop them rising to the occasion and defeating Abingdon United 3-2 at Privett Park.

Two goals from Justin Bennett and one from Liam Sewell handed the home side a victory that silenced their critics.

In the Ryman League, Bognor suffered only their fourth league defeat of the season as they came unstuck at Leatherhead.

And the 3-2 defeat came at a cost, with the league leaders failing to get the win that would have secured their play-off place.

Jason Prior and Tim Bond scored for the Rocks.
