The Hawks held on for an outstanding 2-1 win over Chelmsford City in the Blue Square South.

Goals from Joe Keehan and Sam Pearce put the visitors in the driving seat before Chelmsford reduced the arrears 15 minutes from time.

Despite coming under some intense pressure – aided by Pearce being sent off in the dying seconds – the Hawks held on for the valuable three points.

In Ryman League south division one, Bognor kept their place at the top of the table with a comfortable 2-0 victory against Godalming at Nyewood Lane.

Ben Johnson scored both goals as the Rocks ran out easy winners.

Gosport Borough’s unbeaten run in 2011 came crashing down among them as they lost 3-0 at Bishop’s Cleeve.

Dave Birmingham had the chance to salvage a degree of respectability back for Alex Pike’s side with a last-minute penalty, but he missed to add to Borough blushes.

In the Wessex League, goals from Lyndsey, Thompson (2) and Cotton earned Fareham all three points in their 4-3 win against Alton Town.
