The Hawks’ clash with Billericay Town is set to go ahead tonight after the Westleigh Park pitch passed an inspection.

Yesterday’s snowfall, combined with freezing temperatures overnight, had put the Blue Square Bet South match in doubt.

But after the Hawks called on helpers to clear snow from the playing surface, the pitch was deemed playable - providing more icy conditions do not affect the ground later today.

The recent weather has put paid to a number of local non-league matches tonight, however.

The Wessex League premier division games between Moneyfields v Alresford Town, Horndean v Alton Town and Hayling v Hamworthy have been postponed because of frozen pitches.

However, Fareham’s tussle with Lymington at Cams Alders will go ahead after passing a 2pm pitch inspection.

Meanwhile, Bognor’s Ryman League premier division battle at home to Canvey Island has also been called off.
