The Hawks have sacked manager Stuart Ritchie and assistant manager Barry Blankley after just 10 games in charge at Westleigh Park.

The FA Cup exit at North Leigh and last night’s 3-0 home defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Weston-super-Mare prompted the move.

Vice-chairman Jim Fallon decided it was time to act, even though he was a leading figure in bringing the pair to the club during the summer.

‘It was getting worse and we couldn’t let it carry on any longer,’ said Fallon.

‘We needed to take drastic steps.

‘It isn’t an easy thing to do but we have no hesitation in doing what is right for the club.

‘We thought they were the right men for the job and it is very disappointing.’

A Hawks statement added: ‘Poor results and lack of club discipline has led us to terminate immediately both Stuart Ritchie and Barry Blankley.

‘The board profusely apologise to supporters because recent performances have just not been good enough.

‘Adi Aymes has been appointed as interim caretaker manager for the time being.

‘We have one or two ideas who we would like to approach, in the meantime Adi will take the team for training on Thursday night and the team for Bromley at Saturday.’
