The Hawks suffered an FA Cup shocker as they lost 1-0 at Southern League south west minnows North Leigh.

It was no more than the Hawks deserved after putting in an insipid performance.

The decisive goal was scored by Kieran Sanders, who plagued the Hawks all afternoon, in the 65th minute.

It meant Stuart Ritchie’s men crashed out of the competition at their first hurdle to continue what has been a poor start to the season for them.

The Hawks made three changes, with Steve Ramsey, Stefan Bailey and Scott Jones returning to the starting line-up.

Brett Poate and Luke King bagged the goals as Gosport moved into the third qualifying round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Bideford.

Alex Pike’s men have failed to win at home in the league but had no problems in the Cup today.

Fareham went out of the cup, losing 2-0 at home to Blackfield and Langley.

Also out are Bognor, who put up a brave fight and scored through Terry Dodd and Mu Maan (penalty) but lost 4-2 at Maidenhead.

In the Wessex premier division, Moneyfields won 3-0 at home to Hamworthy but lost Jamie Hore to a suspected broken leg, while AFC Portchester won 3-1 at Hayling.
