ONE of our sides missed out on a place in today’s FA Cup second qualifying round draw – but another strolled into the next stage with a comfortable victory.

Horndean exited the Cup with a disappointing 2-0 defeat away to fellow Wessex League premier division side Newport IOW.

‘They wanted it more than we did,’ said Horndean manager Dave Carter.

‘We went through the motions of playing a football match on a very hot day.

‘Not enough opportunities were created and we conceded two soft goals, one in each half.’

Bognor, however, coasted into the next round of the FA Cup with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Epsom & Ewell at Nyewood Lane.

Ben Johnson put the Rocks in charge with two first-half goals.

After the break substitute Terry Dodd extended the home side’s lead by smashing home a volley.

The Rocks wrapped the tie up 12 minutes from time when James Crane squeezed his shot past the advancing goalkeeper.
