Bradbury: There’s more to come from Hawks

LEE BRADBURY needs a big response from the Hawks as they take on Weston-super-Mare tonight (7.45pm).

The manager was bitterly disappointed by the way his team allowed themselves to be outmuscled in the 3-0 defeat at Sutton.

The players have a bit to prove to themselves after that

It has seen them fall to 19th in the Vanarama National League South, ahead of tonight’s long trip to the Seagulls.

Their hosts, who are four points behind, can’t catch the Hawks.

However, another poor defeat will further dent the visitors’ confidence.

The desire and the passion exhibited in the wins over Oxford City and Maidenhead United was nowhere to be seen on Saturday.

Those qualities will be needed at Weston.

They boosted their confidence with a 4-1 win over St Albans City on Saturday.

Bradbury is calling on his men to stand up to the challenge.

He said: ‘We have to make sure we go to Weston and give it everything we’ve got.

‘At Sutton we allowed ourselves to be outmuscled and struggled with the physical side of the game.

‘The players have a bit to prove to themselves after that.

‘I am looking for them to use their disappointment from Sutton as fuel for a good performance.

‘It is vital we come away from this game with something and must go there looking for a win.’

Bradbury is forced to make one change, with Ebbsfleet loanee Theo Lewis starting a three-match suspension for his sending off at Oxford City.

Scott Donnelly is likely to step up and fill in the gap.

Experienced defender Brian Dutton is available again after a one-match ban.

Bradbury may bring Dutton back and move Dan Strugnell to his preferred spot at full-back.

‘Having an experienced defender back is a big plus for us,’ said Bradbury.

‘We missed Brian Dutton’s physicality at Sutton.

‘Weston are coming into the game on the back of a good win so we will have to make sure we start well.’
