Fareham secured a 1-1 draw with Hamworthy United at Cams Alders last night.

Bryn McKie’s second-half penalty secured a share of the spoils in the Wessex League premier division clash.

Reds striker Sam Knight, who scored twice to sink Bemerton on Saturday, was in lively mood again early on.

He went close with a fierce shot that deflected wide off the heel of a Hamworthy defender.

John Cripps then clipped a shot narrowly over the visitors’ crossbar.

Fareham lost striker Graham Lindsey who had to be helped off after suffering a broken nose.

Hamworthy were then denied an opener by Fareham’s Mark Cotton, who managed to clear Sam Pecan’s shot off the line with keeper Luke Douglas beaten.

The hosts regained their composure but Cotton shot wide.

On 35 minutes, Hamworthy’s Dominic Allen fired wide of an empty net.

Just before the half came to a close, the visitors took the lead.

Stef Penny’s cross was headed home by Pecan at the far post.

Fareham pushed for an equaliser and Cotton was fouled in the box.

McKie stepped up to net from the spot and make it 1-1.

The Reds then went in search of a winner.

But Cotton missed the best chance as they had to settle for a point.
