Horndean continued to climb clear of the Wessex League premier division trap door with a 3-1 triumph over Blackfield & Langley at Five Heads Park on Saturday.
Dave Carter’s side successfully built on a victory over Bournemouth Poppies and a draw with league leaders Winchester City in their previous two outings.
Chamal Fenelon, who scored twice in the triumph over the Poppies, continued where he left off as he muscled the ball home in the ninth minute after Louis Bell’s shot was half stopped.
Six minutes later and the rampant hosts moved further clear as a long ball over the top found Gary Austin.
His touch and pace was too much for the retreating defender and he coolly slotted a low shot past onrushing keeper Simon Evans.
Blackfield improved after the break and threatened to launch a fightback
But their hopes of salvaging a point were extinguished in the 74th minute when Bryn McKie fired home.
Even the sending off of Fenelon for violent conduct in the 86th minute – and a Nathan Lynch consolation soon after – could not halt the Deans charge as they look set to book another season in the competition’s top flight.
