Ten-man Moneyfields remained on top of the Wessex premier division after scrapping to a 2-1 derby win over AFC Portchester.

Steve Hutchings put Miles Rutherford’s side in front, only for the match to turn on its head when Jack Lee was sent off for a professional foul.

His trip on Simon Woods gave Portchester a penalty, which Kevin Pottage scored from.

But despite their disadvantage, Moneys grabbed victory when Warren Hunt came off the bench to bag the winner.

Fareham inflicted a first Wessex premier defeat of the season on Downton in a fine 2-0 win.

Ash Tattersall and Dougie Rowe got the Reds’ goals, with Luke Douglas saving a first-half penalty.

Meanwhile, Horndean slipped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Romsey, Nathan Paxton getting the Deans’ goal.

Gosport breezed into the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy thanks to a 4-0 success at Slough Town.

Justin Bennett helped himself to a hat-trick, with Lee Molyneaux also on target for Alex Pike’s men.
