Gosport Borough’s National League South campaign began in defeat as they were beaten 3-0 at Maidenhead this afternoon.

The hosts look a strong force at this level and were full value for their win as strike duo Dave Tarpey and Sean Marks found the target after Harry Pritchard’s opener.

Petersfield Town were also beaten on the opening day of the season as they lost 4-1 at Chalfont St Peter in Southern League division one central.

Ryan Woodford scored the Rams’ consolation in a scoreline which flatted the home side.

The Hawks final pre-season friendly of the summer also ended in defeat as they lost 3-2 at Hastings.

The hosts were 3-0 up at half-time before Matt Paterson and Alfie Rutherford cut the deficit in the second half.

Meanwhile in FA Cup action, Moneyfields booked their place in the next round with a thrilling 4-3 win over Christchurch.

Ashley Jarvis grabbed a double for Dave Carter’s men with Lee Tigwell and Lewis Stockford also on target.

Fareham Town are also through thanks to an impressive 3-1 win at Bradford Town.

Matty Andrews netted twice with Lee McCrombie sealing victory late on for the Creeksiders.

US Portsmouth also progressed thanks to a 2-1 win over Melksham Town.

Mig Dark and Brandon Bowman netted for the hosts.

Horndean, though, are out after going down to 2-1 loss at Bashley with Mark Smith on target for the Deans.

In Wessex league division one, Baffins Milton Rovers enjoyed a thumping 6-1 win over East Cowes Vic.

Blu Boam and Ryan Pennery both bagged braces with Tyler Moret and Jamie Musselwhite rounding off the scoring.
