MATT PARR praised the resolve of his Fareham Town players after they beat in-form Petersfield 1-0 in the FA Vase on Saturday.
The Reds went into the fixture as underdogs following their 6-1 Wessex League premier division thrashing at the hands of Moneyfields on Tuesday night.
Petersfield, meanwhile, were keen to extend an impressive 10-game winning run.
But an evenly-contested tie swung in the home side’s favour late on as substitute Jordan Neal pounced from the bench to fire Parr’s men into the next round.
The Fareham boss said: ‘The lads worked hard and in the end got their just rewards.
‘It was a tight tussle but we got the breakthrough.
‘After getting stuffed 6-1 at Moneyfields it’s good to bounce back. The lads listened and the improvement was there for all to see.
‘We’ll now look to see if we can build on it at Bemerton in the league tomorrow night (7.45pm).’
