The Hawks’ dreams of promotion to the Vanarama Conference ended as they could only draw 2-2 at Boreham Wood this afternoon.

Trailing 2-0 from their semi-final first-leg tie, the visitors battled back through a Brian Dutton goal in the first half.

But just when the Hawks looked like causing an upset, an awful defensive error gifted Ricky Shakes an equaliser to knock the stuffing out of them.

Lee Angol extended the home side’s aggregate lead to three soon afterwards.

Substitute JJ Hooper hit back for the Hawks but by then, it was too little too late.
