RAMPANT Moneyfields swept Fareham aside with a 4-0 derby win at Dover Road last night.

Steve Hutchings grabbed two goals.

Bobby Scott and debutant Stuart Green also netted.

Moneyfields manger Miles Rutherford was pleased with the display from his troops.

He said: ‘It was a very pleasing team performance.

‘We imposed ourselves upon them and controlled affairs.

‘It shows, on our day, we are a match for anybody in this league.

‘The frustrating thing is that it also shows what we could have achieved if we did this week in, week out.

‘But overall I am very happy.’

In a frenetic opening, Hutching’s cross evaded strike-partner Warren Hunt in front of the Fareham goal.

It was a typical derby early on with both sides closing down well and denying space.

Moneys keeper Dave Hook was in the right place to gather a Danny Thompson effort after the Fareham man skipped past two tackles.

James Lacey bravely denied Liam Hibberd a goal when he headed clear at the far post.

The visitors threatened again as Hook produced a superb full-length one-handed save to turn Thompson’s well-struck volley around the post.

It was the home side who broke the deadlock on 28 minutes, though, with a superb strike from Scott.

His 20-yard free-kick flashed over the wall and in off the near post.

Fareham missed a chance to level when Thompson could only roll his shot straight at Hook, after a mistake from Adrian Brockway.

The home side began the second period in the ascendancy, pinning Fareham back.

Good play between Rob Evans and Hutchings ended with Dan Gauntlett heading past the near post.

Warren Hunt saw another effort pushed away by Douglas and Hutchings volleyed wide as Moneyfields kept up the pressure.

The Reds had no answer as Moneys continued to cut them open.

Hutchings went close twice in a minute and it seemed that a second goal was inevitable.

It arrived in the 65th minute after Moneys were awarded a penalty.

Hutchings was felled inside the box and picked himself up to send Douglas the wrong way from the spot.

Hunt and Scott were both thwarted by Douglas as Moneys continued their charge.

The goals to add gloss soon came.

Green netted on his debut and Hutchings got his second to complete Fareham’s misery.
