STRIKER Liam Sewell goes straight into the Gosport Borough side for tonight’s Southern League south & west division visit to Thatcham Town (7.45pm).
Youngster Sewell completed his permanent move to Privett Park yesterday.
And the former Hawks man comes in for injured striker James Taylor (back).
Sewell had been set to join Borough on a season-long loan but the deal has been made permanent with a small fee involved.
‘Liam is not going to have James Taylor’s experience but has bundles of enthusiasm,’ said Borough’s assistant boss Mick Catlin.
‘He hasn’t played for a while so is determined to hit the ground running.
‘The lad is fit and pacy and hopefully some of his strike-partner Justin Bennett’s experience will rub off on him.
‘Hopefully he will make a scoring start.’
Borough were held to a 1-1 home draw by Tiverton Town at the weekend and Catlin expects Thatcham to provide another stiff test.
The Berkshire side produced a good late run last season to reach the play-offs.
‘We are looking to make a big improvement on our appalling away record of last season,’ said Catlin.
‘It is always difficult at Thatcham so this will be a good marker for us.’
Dave Birmingham is a doubt (calf) but Borough have Mark Cotton back.
