Play-off hopefuls Gosport Borough grabbed a vital three points this afternoon – beating table-toppers Bideford 2-1.

Justin Bennett and Nathan Kirby were the scorers for the Southern League south & west promotion-chasers at Privett Park.

It was also a good day for Bognor in their pursuit of the Ryman one south title.

The Rocks survived a nervous second half to take three huge points by overcoming Sittingbourne 4-2 at Nyewood Lane.

In the Wessex League, Hayling boosted their chances of premier division survival with a fine 2-1 win over Downton at Hayling College.

But Horndean remain in the relegation mix after they went down 1-0 at second-placed Bemerton Heath Harlequins.
