Brockenhurst pegged 10-man AFC Portchester back with a late goal in an incident-packed 2-2 draw at Wicor Rec.

The Royals were forced to play more than an hour of the Wessex League premier division clash a man down after Craig Hardy was shown a straight red card for kicking out at an opponent.

Jason Parish grabbed both of the home side’s goals, while Alex Baldacchino missed a penalty.

Manager Graham Rix praised his battling side.

‘My players put in a terrific shift, showing great spirit and endeavour,’ said Rix.

‘I can’t condone what my player did to get sent off but we did well with 10 men.

‘We should have gone on to see the game through.

‘To make it worse they equalised with a mis-hit shot right at the death.’

Moneyfields’ problems continued with a 2-1 defeat at Hamworthy United after Steve Hutchings had put them in front.
