COMPENSATION has been paid to a young Portsmouth fan who was kettled by police at an away game.

The 14-year-old was at a game in April 2013 in Shrewsbury when he was separated from his father and friend. The police forcibly marched a group, including the teen, and made them wait in a closed nightclub for two hours while they were searched.

After the incident, the Football Supporters’ Federation put him in touch with lawyers who brought a claim against the police.

The federation has welcomed the news that the police have agreed to pay the teenager £3,500 and encouraged others also held in Shrewsbury to email amanda.jacks@fsf.org.uk
