Michael Appleton has insisted he has not been contacted by anyone at Blackpool regarding the vacant manager’s job at Bloomfield Road.

Reports have suggested the Pompey boss is poised to take charge of the Seasiders, with the Championship club set to reveal their choice tomorrow morning.

Despite rumours that talks over compensation between Pompey and Blackpool have already taken place over Appleton, the Blues boss is adamant he has not been told of any move for his services.

However, The News understands Blackpool are definitely interested in Appleton.

And the former West Brom assistant will now talk with Pompey administrator Trevor Birch to learn if the Lancashire outfit do want him as their new boss.

Appleton said: ‘I haven’t had that conversation with Trevor.

‘If it is true, I have not heard anything.

‘There will be a conversation between me and Trevor, as there always is after every game.

‘I am not aware of being their man, unless someone tells me any differently.’
